Amy’s Tea Party!
Amy had a spectacular 4th Birthday party this weekend. Our theme was “Come for Tea with Mommy and Me!”

This was a big break for us where we did a full theme birthday and didn’t just have a big bash inviting our friends and their kids. Amy has made some wonderful friends at school and at the YMCA and she wanted those girls to come so a tea party seemed like the perfect event for us. Amy is just four, and many of her friends are 3 and not 4 yet. Having Mommy come too seemed like a great choice, I wasn’t ready for moms to drop off kids for two hours of birthday party yet.
I Googled up a storm getting ready to host a child’s tea party, and I also posted on a few of my favorite boards asking for tips. I found the CUTEST invitations on ebay. I wanted to do something really fun, but we live in a small town and the choices are so limited between Walmart and the local Kmart store. I have made announcements and invitations myself before but Bug n’ Belle has kept me so busy I quite frankly didn’t have time. BUT if you get on ebay and search “tea party invitations” you will be so amazed at the things you can get for great prices. I got mine from ebay seller mossel04 and they were so wonderful, great customer service can’t complain in any way. See the invitations we ordered here.
We had so much FUN! I am going to do a separate post with the decorations, games, and food because this one is already getting so long! I’d like to share some pictures.

We did an early start time of 11:00 am with “lunch” served. After lunch the girls all drifted outside, as it was such a nice day. So Pat took advantage of the moment and brought out the special present. Amy has been asking for a Princess bike for almost 2 years… you have never seen a girl jump with so much glee. We had her cover her eyes as Daddy brought it out.

Of course what do Princesses do after they ride bikes in their finest tea wear? They roll down the hill and catch ladybugs! Pat wanted to mow the lawn that morning and I wouldn’t let him because I didn’t want the girls tracking in grass or getting grass stains. Good thing!

Did I tell you Amy had the best friends ever at her party? Don’t they look so cute in their fancy tea wear! Best thing about being born close to Easter is everyone has a fun Easter outfit to wear! (Amy was actually born a few days after Easter but since Easter floats, sometimes it’s before, sometimes after. The poor thing will forever have a spring break birthday. Guess that’s what happens when mom is/was a teacher!)

We had a scrumptious ice cream cake from Cold Stone Ice Creamery. We ordered the Barbie cake and got a fully decorated cake and a pouch of plastic things to stick on there. Well I certainly couldn’t figure out how to muck up such lovely decoration with that dumb Barbie plastic stuff so I just left it off. It tasted really good though. I ordered WAY too big a cake so I think we will be enjoying this for awhile. I ended up giving away those plastic rings for party favors. Looking at that picture from Cold Stone, our cake looked nothing like it, but it tasted good and it was still cute!

Presents. We got some wonderful gifts. A dear friend made Amy some dress up fairy wings, they are so beautiful! Of course we got our fair share of Barbie, Polly Pocket (one that launches Oh My has big brother loved that one!), My Little Pony, and Strawberry Shortcake…. Everything so girly!

Finally the Pinata. That thing was made from concrete. It seems like the pinatas either bust open immediately or you can’t get them to crack in any way. Pat finally got a pair or scissors, cut it open, then got Kyle’s heavy duty t-ball bat and let Kyle whack on it. FINALLY it busted open. I have never seen such a tame bunch where scooping up the candy was concerned.

Happy Birthday my little Amy Belle Princess, I hope you had a great 4th birthday!

I was thinking of having a tea party for my soon to be four year old since she loves to have decafe tea with my family and me. After reading this I think it would be big hit. Thanks for sharing!
