Going Green

I have had this extremely compelling something urging me to “go green” for weeks upon weeks upon weeks. And I have acted on several of these urges.

I was raised green. It was easy to do in the town I grew up in (Eugene, Oregon) I remember going with my mom to the recycling center and dumping off all our recyclable containers WAY before curbside recycling showed up. And now when I think about it I feel guilty b/c our little piddly small town doesn’t offer curbside recycling for much and yet DOES have a recycling center… it’d take such little effort on our part. And then I take that thought… it’d take such little effort in a lot of ways….

I am not one of those militant green people, I honestly dont’ have it in me, but I am capable of trying my best to reduce my use and I think if we all did that we’d have a much better world. I used to be a teacher and when I talked to my student’s about this issue it was almost always class divided, which is telling I think. Americans COMSUME, but some consume MUCH more than others, and some are much more able to be responsible than others.

As I stated above I am not by any means militan green… but I do think I could do more and I’m making a commitment to expore more environmentally sound options for our family.
