Recording Your Vacation Memories
Having done a few big vacations/trips in my life I now know from experience that what seems as fresh as can be in your mind right now will slowly fade to the point where you can’t remember much exact detail in 6 months, or a year, or two years. As an avid scrapbooker I do like being able to remember the who, what, when, where, why of my pictures so one of the things I do at the end of the trip is sit down and write some notes. Nothing detailed just usually a little list of the days we were gone and what we did each day. Funny things the kids said or things that happened to us. If we’ve been out site seeing I try to put any information brochures, or the guidebook, with my pictures. That way when I go to do my scrapbooking I can remember the names of all the places and I know how to spell them correctly.
Sometimes I even surprise myself. My husband and I were looking at pictures I had scapbooked a few years ago from a trip we’d taken to the Grand Canyon. We had forgotten a couple things we had done, and some funny things that had happened! Journaling is IMHO one of the most important parts of scrapbooking because in your own words you can capture the things the pictures don’t tell you.
I try to do the same thing after a big event (like the kid’s birthday parties) just write a few things down to help remember the day. If you are like me and will never get caught up until you are old and gray heed my advice and write a few things down here and there, you’ll be so glad you did!
